Rosebud-Lott student killed in Monday accident
A Rosebud-Lott ISD student has passed away following an accident Monday morning.
Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers and Falls County Deputies responded to a 15-year-old boy who was hit by a vehicle in Falls County while running on FM 431 near CR 343 in Travis on Monday morning.
The incident happened at approximately 7:45 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 9, near Rosebud-Lott High School. The boy has been identified as Bryce Fikes.
Coaches at Rosebud-Lott High School began CPR on the 15-year-old assisted by Deputies and EMS.
Preliminary investigation revealed a GMC Arcadia was traveling eastbound when it crashed into the runner.
Officials have confirmed the 15-year-old died on the scene. Next of kin have been notified. The investigation was completed by The Department of Public Safety.
Fikes was practicing with the school’s cross country team at the time of the accident.
The head coach of the school’s cross country team has been placed on administrative leave while the district investigates.
Counselors will be available for students and staff.
