Rosebud man sentenced to 25 years in prison

Amadeo Ramirez Castilleja, 65, of Rosebud, was found guilty by a jury for the felony offense of continuous sexual abuse of a child under the age of 14.

A jury was selected March 5, and returned a verdict of guilty on March 8, after about 5 hours of deliberation. The case against Castilleja was presented by District/ County Attorney Jody Gilliam.

Gilliam explained this felony offense has a special range of punishment as a 1st degree felony being no less than 25 years and up to life in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Institutional Division. There is no parole for this offense, and the sentence must be served day for day. Castilleja had elected that the jury assess his punishment. The jury assessed the punishment at 25 years in prison.
