Rosebud under boil water notice after line break

Due to recent water line repairs, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has required our water system in the City of Rosebud (PWSID 0730003) to notify customers of the need to boil their water prior to consumption.

To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and making ice should be boiled and cooled prior to use. The water should be brought to a vigorous, rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes. In lieu of boiling, you may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source.

When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, the water system officials will notify you that the water is safe for consumption. Instructions to discontinue boiling will be issued in the same manner as this notice.

If you have questions concerning this matter, you may contact City Hall at (254) 583-7926.

The City of Rosebud shut off water service to the city Tuesday, Sept. 28, to install the next round of shut off valves. After the water was turned back on an 8-inch water main ruptured behind zipps. The city has repaired the issue.

Rosebud City Manager Kenny Ray Murray said, “the water department worked through a thunderstorm last night to fix a busted 8-inch water main. It was some true-blue hero stuff. CJ Rose and Andrew Klarmann are the two individuals responsible.”

As of press time on Tuesday, the Boil Water notice had been extended pending further testing. The City will notify residents when the boil water notice has expired.
