Sheriff’s Office receives PPE from Sessions

(Falls County, Texas) - Congressional Candidate Pete Sessions was in Falls County on July 11 to give 500 KN95 masks to the Falls County Sheriff Department.

“I want you to know that we gave them to you because we want to make sure your men and women that are either here or on the road are taken care of,” Sessions told Falls County Sherriff Ricky Scaman. 

The politician agrees that these types of masks are “the best” and the most effective masks for containing the spread of COVID-19. He gave full control to Scaman as to what to do with the masks, but had a few requests. 

“I believe the local people make better decisions when they do things and do it for the right reasons,” the Waco native said. “The only thing I ask is that you consider senior citizens, diabled people, and members of law enforcement.” 

Sessions comes from a law enforcement family, with his father serving in multiple high ranking positions throughout the state in years past. He emphasized the importance of law enforcement and the work they do in their communities. 

The two officials spoke on the incident that happened on July 4, where a Falls County Deputy nearly lost his life as an attacker held him at knifepoint. Sessions was glad to hear that the officer had made it out with minimal injuries and was back on the job.

He also took note of the recent national disrest between law enforcement officers and citizens, citing the importance of having law enforcement there to protect individuals who need it. 

“It is important as a young person to understand how important effective proper law enforcement is, otherwise you have no one else to call,” Sessions told The Rosebud News.  “They do this for the right reasons, because they took an oath.”

He also spoke to the Falls County assigned Texas Game Warden, Michael Fergueson, and Regional Game Warden, Captain Jason Campbell, along with Falls County Deputy Joe Lambert. 

The four, along with Sheriff Scaman, reminisced on past encounters both as citizens and in their respective positions. Sessions commended the officers for their outstanding work.

During his time at the Sheriff’s Office, Sessions stated that, if elected, he would be visiting the department at least once per month and that he would make sure that Scaman had any support he needed from the congressional level. 

“It’s great to hear we’d have a friend in congress that would be there for us whenever we need it,” Scaman told him.
