Teenager found shot in local park

In the early hours of Monday morning, a body was discovered in an abandoned vehicle on Farm-to-Market Road 1860 near the Lions Club in Reisel.

The 17-year-old had been fatally shot multiple times in the passenger seat.

Later identified as Garrett Hunt, the teen was on his way to class at Reisel High School.

His mother, Sarah Hunt, was later arrested for killing her son as she walked back towards Riesel from that location.

The details surrounding what led to the shooting are unknown, but Hunt will be charged with murder, according to a press release.

"It's a very sad situation," said McLennan County Sheriff Parnell McNamara. "I don't know how else to describe it. We're going to be working overtime trying to sort this one out."

The vehicle was called in about 8 a.m. by a passerby. Further details will be released as they become available.
