Ten area volunteer fire departments receive donation

Bell-Milam Falls Water Supply Company and CoBank, a cooperative bank and rural infrastructure lender, recently donated $5,000 to 10 area volunteer fire departments.

The 10 volunteer fire departments, Cameron VFD, Lott VFD, Westphalia VFD, Rosebud VFD, Burlington VFD, Buckholts VFD, Rogers VED, Davilla VFO, Bartlett VFD and Granger VFD, will each receive $500 to support their efforts in fire protection for Central Texas.

“Volunteer fire departments in Central Texas are critical for the safety of our people and community infrastructure,” said Robert Jekel, general manager of Bell-Milam Falls WSC. “We work hand in hand with these departments by providing safe and reliable access to sufficient water to fight fires. For those reasons, supporting area volunteer fire departments was an imperative for the Board of Directors of Bell-Milam Falls, and we would encourage others to do whatever they can to support their local volunteer fire departments.”
