Texas A&M Youth Adventure Program visits Rosebud

The Texas A&M Youth Adventure Program (YAP) came to Rosebud and Cameron to learn about police investigations, the dangers of driving while intoxicated, jail systems, and our courts.  YAP brings high school students from across the state to attend A&M Law School for a week in College Station. After attending school each day the campers go to movies, participate in competitions, and social activities while living in the dorms.

The students came to Rosebud City Hall and Court. They had to run a driving while intoxicated simulation using Drunk Goggles and pedal carts. The students learned how our local law enforcement identify drunk drivers while experiencing how difficult it is to drive.  After talking to the new Rosebud Chief of Police, the students processed a crime scene. They had to sketch the scene, tag and collect the evidence.

The students then had lunch at the HWY 77 Cafe with ice cream at Artisan Alley. Then they went to the old Milam County Jail in Cameron followed by a private tour of the 20th District Court.

The students will be in College Station the rest of the week and will conduct a felony trial on Friday.
