TWO MORE COVID-19 CASES IN FALLS COUNTY

Possible third case untested
“I experienced the worst coughing fits and had to go to the ER,” she wrote. “My lungs are inflamed but not to the point where I need to stay there.”

On Monday, the Falls County Judge’s Office announced that two more cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Falls County.

One is a male in his 40s. He had been traveling and was tested upon his return. His current health status is unknown, as testing has taken time to come back from the labs.

Initial reports said the other was a female who was hospitalized, but no other information was available.

“They’re both from the west side of the river,” Falls County Judge told reporters that afternoon. “But that’s all I know for sure.”

Unofficial sources say that the male comes from the Durango area.

It was announced later that evening, on Facebook, by Mayra Perez, the infected female, that she indeed does live in Marlin, on the east side of the river. She says it is entirely possible that her husband has the virus as well, but that he did not qualify for testing.

“I experienced the worst coughing fits and had to go to the ER,” she wrote. “My lungs are inflamed but not to the point where I need to stay there.”

Perez and her husband will be self-isolating for the next 14 days and she continues to encourage others to allow those infected their privacy.

“Going through this is awful and very personal,” she said. “No one really needs to know who or what town.”

There have been a total of 36 tests administered in Falls County according to the Department of State Health Services, three of which have come back positive. The first case, a 20-something male out of the Westphalia area, has successfully recovered.

Despite Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s plan to reopen Texas slowly, citizens are encouraged to continue following proper social distancing measures set by the Center for Disease Control, as well as to continue wearing face coverings in public. Wash hands for at least twenty seconds and avoid touching your face, eyes, and mouth.

“I would like to thank the communities within Falls County,” Elliott said in a press release. “You have shown great support and dedication to one another in these unprecedented times.”
