Wednesday Study Club Continues to Maintain Memorial Room at D Brown Library
The Wednesday Study Club met Jan. 8, 2025, for their annual workday meeting.
Those attending were Beth Allen, Diane Pagel, Mary Ann Mitchell, Norma Burns, Carol Stock, Annette Engel, and Judy Smith.
Members began by signing Valentine cards to be taken to the Heritage House in February. They will be completed at the February meeting. Historian Mitchell created an inventory of Rosebud High School yearbooks.
Missing years were 1946, 1947, and 1950. Donations of yearbooks of those years would be very appreciated. The Memorial Room has stored Rosebud-Lott High School yearbooks for a number of years and is planning to give them to the R-L 50-year reunion organizers.
In discussing a policy about what to do about extra Rosebud High School yearbooks, it was suggested to keep two copies of each year, one in storage and one on display. Those other extras could be sold and suggestions for what to charge ranged from $20 to $100.
Members ate their sack lunches and enjoyed chicken salad provided by Mitchell.
After lunch, Stock and Mitchell continued to organize memorabilia. They would like to add an extra shelf in the display cases to hold the numerous Rosebud High School jackets and sweaters. Mitchell found a box of pictures of Mary Stubbs and will create an album of just her with possible inclusion of pictures of her husband Bryon as well.
Stock and Mitchell found a box of pictures and other memorabilia and regrouped it, planning to give some of the pictures and papers to Preservation Rosebud. The mission of the Wednesday Study Club is to preserve Rosebud High School memorabilia.
Some memorabilia is strictly city of Rosebud and the WSC would like to give those items to Preservation Rosebud for their displays.
It has been a process over the years to reorganize all of the memorabilia that came from the Stubbs’ estate.
The Wednesday Study Club plans to showcase particular items at the next Golden Years Reunion to be held April 5, 2025, whenever the Memorial Room is open for former students and visitors. Last year the military albums were available to view and are now permanently housed in the Memorial Room. One Act Plays and Football albums are also on display. If completed, Mary Stubbs’ album will be on display this year.
The Wednesday Study Club welcomes donations from former students who wish to have their Rosebud High School memorabilia included in the Memorial Room.
