Wednesday Study Club has workday

Members of the Wednesday Study Club met on Jan. 12 in the Memorial Room of the D Brown Library to have their traditional workday.

Those present were Carol Stock, Norma Burns, Ann Sonntag, Beth Allen, Pat Runcie, Mary Ann Mitchell, Judy Smith, and Diane Pagel.

The Rosebud News had taken many pictures over the years of local community and school events.  With the change in ownership of The News many years ago, the WSC became the keepers of several large tubs of those pictures.  Also included were pictures and other memorabilia from Mary Stubbs.

Members began the task of trying to identify those local people in the pictures.  It began a “walk down memory lane” for those members who have been a part of this community for many years.  Newbie members were able to focus on events that they had become familiar with while living in the Rosebud area.  Someone would say this is “Power’s Chapel” or “First United Methodist Church.”

There were many pictures of the “Golden Years Reunion” and these pictures will be placed in the individual class albums after identification.  Other pictures that cannot be identified may be shown at the next Golden Years Reunion for individual to simply have.  There were pictures of older homes and businesses in Rosebud and the group decided to eventually give these to Preservation Rosebud to place in their museum.

This is a monumental task and will be ongoing for many more workdays.  WSC members will be contacting identified individuals to see if they would like these pictures.  Next meeting of the Wednesday Study Club will be Feb. 9.
