Wednesday Study Club: Project Pictures

The Wednesday Study Club has two ongoing projects dealing with pictures.

The first project started several years ago when Diane Pagel, who moved to Rosebud in 2007, began working on recreating the Memorial Board in the D Brown Library Memorial Room.  The Memorial Board displayed newspaper clippings about Rosebud men who served in World War II. The newspaper articles on the board were deteriorating and the plan was to find those same articles in The Rosebud News microfilm files, copy them, and then put those articles into an album.

The project grew when Pagel found the Veterans of WW II albums that Rosebud native, Joyce Cunningham Tressler, had previously donated to the Memorial Room and decided to include those articles with the ones from the original board.  Pagel is now trying to find pictures, obituaries, service records, and any other information about Rosebud veterans, both men and women.  She would welcome any family members who are willing to let her copy that information.  Interested people may contact the D Brown Library at (254) 583-2328 and arrangements can be made.

On June 22, eight members of the Wednesday Study Club met in the Memorial Room to continue identifying the tubs of pictures they received from The Rosebud News.  Many pictures have been distributed to family members, but there are hundreds more to be identified.  The group may try to have an additional meeting in August to continue the task.  Members of the executive board also met to plan the upcoming year’s activities.  President Pat Runcie, along with the other officers, thinks this year’s activities will be interesting and educational, and will offer a wonderful time to gather with other ladies in the community.
