Leon L. Ernst

Mr. Leon L. Ernst, Jr., 75, of the Clarkson Community, passed away Monday, November 7, at his residence. Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, November 10, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Burlington, with Fr. John Kelley officiating. Rosary will be recited Wednesday, November 9, at 7:00 p.m. at Green Patterson Funeral Home in Cameron.

Mr. Ernst was born on January 28, 1941, in the Clarkson Community, near Rosebud, to Leon Sr. and Loretta Janicek Ernst. He graduated from C. H. Yoe High School in 1958. 

He served in the Army National Guard. Mr. Ernst was a retired airplane mechanic. One of his hobbies was tinkering with cars. He had a passion for Corvettes, of which he owned several throughout his lifetime. He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church.

Survivors are two brothers Donald W. Ernst of Irving and Leslie O. Ernst of Okinawa, Japan, Nephews Derek C. Ernst, James J. Ernst, Maxwell L. Ernst, James W. Ernst, Michael W. Ernst, Stephen Ernst and five nieces Debra Perkins, Cathlynn Brothers, Jeanice Newton, Candace Ernst and Debbie Lynn Detmer.

Also surviving are many great nephews and nieces and two great-great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and by one brother James J. Ernst.
