RLISD Approves Waiver for Homebound Students
During their monthly meeting the School Board approved the waiver for a HS Home Bound Student program. What this means is that if a student is not medically cleared for some reason to attend school for a period of time the school will supply the means for that student to do his/her school work from home. This includes paying for the equipment and Internet service if needed and providing up to hours of teacher/student study time. An example would be a student on medical leave due to childbirth, which would make this program the equivalent to maternity leave. Once the student is medically cleared to return to school the Home Bound program will cease and the student will be expected to return to school. The Pre-K now has a total of 42 students enrolled. The School Board is looking for candidates to fill an extra teacher’s position. They are considering options from UMHB and Baylor as well as other programs to fill the desired position. It was also determined that the school does not receive full day allotment for each student in attendance, rather they receive half of the allotment.
