Blackland Crops Tour set for June 17

Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service Falls County is holding our annual Blackland Row Crops Tour Monday, June 17. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. in the field at Larry Hoelscher’s sorghum plot off at County Road 377 and FM 431 in Lott. The next stop will be Gary and David Herzog’s Corn Plot, and we will finish up at the Westphalia Cafeteria for the inside portion and lunch. The schedule and agenda will include speakers Dr. John Robinson speaking on Cotton and feed grain outlook, Dr. Scott Nolte covering weed resistance and management, Colin Rabroker and Hagen Hoelscher will give a Drift Management demonstration, and Josh Helcel, Wildlife Specialist, will include Feral Hog control and updates on laws and regulations. Individuals with a private applicator pesticide license will earn three continuing education units one Drif, one IPM, and one general. Please RSVP by June 13 by calling the Falls County Extension Office at (254) 883-1410. The program is free. Capital Farm Credit is sponsoring breakfast in the field, and Falls County Row Crops Committee and sponsored provide lunch at Westphalia..
