Falls County Courthouse move-in extended
Falls County Commissioners met Monday, July 26, for their monthly meeting and discusses several topics including the move to the renovated courthouse.
The first item discussed was an update of the courthouse move-in schedule presented by the contractor. Punch-list items discussed included roof drainage, floors in district courtroom and moving of pews to designated areas.
The actual move-in date has been extended and will be announced later. After the move-in, to meet Historical Society guidelines, the vault doors will be cleaned with a shellac finish already budgeted. Commissioner Milton Albright moved to accept updates.
A summary of the 2020 audit was presented by Beyer & Company. Overall, finances were praised. Due to a $32,900 overage, it was recommended to transfer funds back to the county after a certain length of time.
Commissioner F.A. Green asked for confirmation as to when transfer should occur and what line item. Options were discussed.
The district clerk’s office was encouraged to compensate accounts to make whole to have monthly balances reconciled and reminded that time sheets should not be turned in before the pay period ends. The tax office was encouraged to exercise “proof of cash” reconciling reports to statements by each line item. The auditor was thanked for thorough job.
The commissioners went into executive session to discuss solar contracts. After reassembling, the discussion and/or action regarding the adoption of a Tax Abatement Agreement with Copperhead Solar, LLC, was moved to the Aug. 9 Commissioner’s Court meeting.
Commissioner Green motioned to accept authorization for Falls County to issue requests for (RFP) proposals for professional services for the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021. Motion carried.
Other miscellaneous discussions and actions included $2,500 for Home-Delivered Meals Grant Program for 2022; regular notice about tax rates; and John Deer lease agreement. It was discussed paying out $2,546.25 comp time to Robert Lloyd. All actions were approved.
