Satan’s answer

Many years ago a major American company opened an assembly plant in Panama. 

Very quickly, however they ran into trouble keeping their employees working. The assembly workers had little to buy in Panama and bartered for the things they needed. This left them with more cash than they could spend. 

So, periodically they quit working until they could spend the cash they had already made. Well there were many attempts to solve this roblem. One said, “Pay them less.” 

Others wanted to move the plant Finally someone came up with the suggestion that they give all their employees a Sears catalog. This worked beautifully. It wasn’t long until they were all in debt and had to work every hour of every day just to pay for the things they had bought.

Is this not Satan’s answer to fill out lives with things that we have neither time nor money left for God? We have that little magic plastic card that works magic. 

Consumer and national debt is at an all time high. Some have ended up in bankruptcy. Satan offered Jesus his catalog in the wilderness. Beautiful things to eat, wear and have to own. Jesus said “NO.” 

He quoted to him from God’s catalog. “Man shall not live by bread alone.” (Matthew 4) Jesus said again, “Take heed and beware of covetousness for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things he possesseth.” (Luke 12:15)
