County auction proceeds benefits the county
Falls County Commissioners Court met at the County Courthouse, Monday, April 14, 2025, at 9 a.m., County Judge Jay Elliott presiding. The commissioners present were Milton Albright (Pct. 1), F.A. Green (Pct. 2), Jason Willberg (Pct. 3), and Nita Wuebker (Pct. 4). ADA Steve Sharp was in attendance.
Elected official reports included the purchase of a new generator for City of Lott and the Sheriff’s office has installed a new radio system. Both were funded through HOTCOG grants. Commissioners discussed leasing property by the County Annex to NextLink for equipment storage. NextLink is a gigabit fiber network for Falls County. Contract was not available. There was discussion concerning the Netdata contract, which is an older program used by the Sheriff Department, DA office, District clerk office and others. No decision was made.
Commissioner Wuebker moved to approve the first draw request of $25,470.00 concerning the Chilton Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) contract. Seconded by Commissioner Albright, the motion carried. In other matters, Commissioners approved the compensatory time payout for a jail employee, the Investment Policy for Falls County, and the annual distribution of permanent school funds for fiscal year 2025.
In the best interest of the Falls County citizens and to provide a more efficient, higher quality, cost effective governmental services, the County Commissioners approved the Interlocal Cooperative Agreement with the City of Golinda for road surfacing. Payment for an indigent burial at Hillcrest Cemetery by Robertson Funeral Home was approved.
The distribution of funds from the Waco Auction Group Online County auction was discussed. The total funds collected were $162,793.10. Distributions were Road & Bridge ($131,611.50), Permanent improvement (generator $5,625.00) and Sheriff Department ($25,556.60) plus auction group commission. Due to road damages, Commissioner moved to approve “No thru trucks” signs on CR 106 and CR 183. Seconded Commissioner Green, the motion carried.
Jeff Jackson, Road & Bridge Administration, updated the Commissioners on the recent purchase of a motor grader and County bridges updates. County Trash Day will be announced soon.
Commissioner Albright moved to approve the payment of bills, seconded by Commissioner Green, the motion carried. With no further business, the meeting adjourned. The next Commissioners meeting is April 28 at 9 a.m.
