Rosebud Cancels November City Council Election After Candidates Run Unopposed

The City of Rosebud will not hold a municipal election this November after city officials declared all candidates for council seats unopposed.

The City Council adopted Ordinance No. 25082201, which cancels the Nov. 4, 2025, general election for council positions. Under the ordinance, the following candidates were declared elected to office: According to the ordinance, no other candidates filed for a place on the ballot, and no write-in declarations were submitted.

The Texas Election Code allows cities to cancel elections when candidates are unopposed, a measure designed to save time and taxpayer money. With the cancellation, the four council members will assume their seats without the need for a public vote.
