Basketball Weekly for Central Region
Another week of high school basketball is in the books, and it did not disappoint. C.H. Yoe Yoemen improved to 5-6 on the season, going undefeated at the Moody Tournament. The Lady Yoe sit at 7-7 so far this season. They begin district play this coming Friday against neighboring Rockdale.
Chilton Pirates are still getting their “sea legs” underneath them, and are currently 2-2 on the season. The Lady Pirates are 11-6 this year, after competing in the 2025 Cougar Classic at Leon High School. The Lady Pirates are 4-1 against teams that start with the letter G. So they should fare well when they face Gonzales on the 29th. The girls open district play this Friday, hosting Axtell.
The Marlin Bulldogs are 4-8 after picking up a couple of wins at the 2025 Cougar Classic. The Lady Bulldogs sit at 8-7. The girls open district play this Friday evening at Moody.
The Milano Eagles hope to turn things around after starting this year at 06. The Lady Eagles (3-14) took third place this past weekend at the Granger Tournament. Looks like the Lady Eagles are starting to gain some momentum with district play starting this Friday.
The 7-4 Rosebud-Lott Cougars competed in the 2025 Cougar Classic over the weekend. It was their second tournament of the season with one more to go before district play starts the first of the year. The Lady Cougars also competed in the 2025 Cougar Classic, picking up a couple of wins against Richards and Round Top-Carmine. The team starts district play on the road this Friday evening against McDade.
Hats off to the Thorndale Bulldogs after defeating Lexington in the championship of this year’s Coach Lieberman Classic basketball tournament. The Bulldogs stand at 10-2 so far this season. The JV Maroon boys were crowned the JV Thorndale Tournament champions. Meanwhile, the Lady Dogs came in fourth at the Tilden Tournament. Lady Dogs Kyla Daniell and Malayya Dodson were named to the All-Tournament Team. Turned out to be a great weekend for the Thorndale young men and women basketball teams!
