Do the Right Thing

Genesis Chapter 37 has a story of Joseph and his eleven brothers. Joseph, the second youngest, was his father’s favorite. His brothers despised him for the attention he got from his father Jacob. They despised him so much, they conspired to kill him, but eventually they decided to sell him into slavery. Joseph experienced a tremendous number of difficulties in his life. He was stripped of his coat and thrown into an empty well and then finally being thrown into prison in Egypt by Potiphar for a crime that he did not commit. However, throughout all his difficult situations he showed tremendous courage and rose to prominence. Twenty years after his brothers sold him into slavery, they came to Egypt to buy food because of the famine. Joseph welcomed them and forgave them for what they did years before. Joseph did the right thing!

Some of us hold on to grudges for something that happened over 20 years ago. God tell us that we need to forgive and move on and “ Do the Right Thing.” I may be difficult. But with God’s help, He will allow you to accomplish the goal of doing the right things by others and letting your gentleness be known. ”Let your gentleness be evident to all.” (Philippians 4:5)
