Rotary Clubs Across Central Texas Unite for “Service Texas Day”
Central Texas - On Saturday March 28, Central Texas will come alive with service, energy, and Rotary spirit as more than 2,200 Rotarians from over 30 Rotary clubs across 23 counties unite for Service Texas Day — a district wide day of action organized by Rotary District 5870. This coordinated effort will showcase the extraordinary impact Rotary makes when thousands of volunteers roll up their sleeves on the same day to strengthen the communities they call home.
Across the region, Rotarians will take on an impressive lineup of hands-on service projects designed to meet real and immediate community needs. From stocking food banks and revitalizing parks to launching literacy initiatives, cleaning up neighborhoods, and supporting families in need, clubs will be working side by side with local partners to create visible, meaningful changes in a single day.
The initiative reflects Rotary’s global commitment to service through its Seven Areas of Focus, which include: -Promoting peace -Fighting disease -Providing clean water and sanitation -Saving mothers and children -Supporting education -Growing local economies -Protecting the environment “Service Texas Day is about showing what happens when people unite for good and come together to serve,” said Todd Smith, District Governor of Rotary District 5870. “When thousands of Rotarians across our region volunteer on the same day, the collective impact can be extraordinary.”
Rotary District 5870 includes clubs across Central Texas with members who volunteer thousands of hours each year to improve their communities. Service Texas Day provides an opportunity to highlight that impact while inviting community members to experience Rotary service firsthand.
“Our hope is that Service Texas Day not only helps communities but also inspires others to get involved,” said Kim Kankel, District Public Image Chair. “Many people who volunteer alongside Rotarians discover they want to continue serving and eventually become members.”
Across the district, Rotary clubs will be leading projects that address local needs while contributing to a broader regional effort to strengthen communities.
Community members interested in volunteering or learning more about Rotary can connect with their local club to participate in Service Texas Day activities.
