Allene Ida Marie Cowger

Allene Ida Marie Cowger, age 88 years, of Burlington passed away on the afternoon of Thursday, December 7, 2017 at a local hospital. She was born in Wilson, Texas on the 13 day of April 1929 to Gus William and Josephine Ottilie (Liermann) Hoff. Allene attended school in Travis, Texas and was a member of the Lutheran Church in Temple. She has been a resident of the Central Texas area for her entire life. She is preceded in death by her parents, Gus and Josephine; as well as daughters, Michelle Leigh Sovey and Joyce Human; son, William Heck; one brother and one sister. Allene leaves behind to cherish her memory her children, Virgil Cowger of Belton, Frances Prescott, Carol Ann Wells and Mickey Ford all of Burlington, Linda Schexnayider of Temple, Jean Ann Norman of Colorado City, Texas, Robert Charles Heck and David Heck both of Houston and Brenda Fojt of Victoria. Also surviving are her step-children, Bobby Cowger and Kathy Harborth of Bishop, Texas and Judy Milbocker of Anchorage, Alaska. She also leaves17 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at the First Lutheran Church in Temple with Pastor William J. Sappenfield officiating with a burial at Burlington Cemetery. The family of Mrs. Cowger would like to extend their most sincere gratitude to the staff of Scott & White Palliative Care who took such great care of their mother.
