Alois Ketterman

Alois “Ollie” Ketterman, aged 86, passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at a Temple hospital. He was born December 8, 1930 in Westphalia, Texas to Joseph and Mary Ketterman. Alois married Georgia Hering on November 20th, 1954.

Alois attended school in Westphalia and proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He worked at American Desk for 35 years. After retirement he moved to his family home in Westphalia.

Alois was an active member of the Church of the Visitation Catholic Church, where he served the church in many ways.

Alois is survived by his wife of 62 years, Georgia; his sons Marvin “Rusty”, Joe and his wife, Cathy; and his daughters Cindy Berndt, Diane Mooneyham and her husband Dewayne, and Karen Hattemer. He is also survived by his brothers, Raymond and wife Betty Jo Ketterman, Ervin Ketterman, and Robert Ketterman, and his sister Angeline Gerick. Alois was well loved by his ten grandkids, seven great-grandkids, and many nieces and nephews. Alois was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Ketterman; his brother, Lawrence Ketterman; and his sister, Sister Marian Joseph Ketterman.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 AM Friday, December 23, 2016 at the Church of the Visitation Catholic Church in Westphalia with a burial following at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Father Walter Dhanwar, Father Edwin Kagoo, Deacon Charlie Wright and Deacon Bill Smetana officiated.

A visitation was held from 5 – 7 PM on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at Hewett-Arney Funeral Home Chapel with the Rosary starting at 6:30 PM. In lieu of flowers please make donations in Ollie’s honor to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, McLanes Children’s Hospital, CCD Program in Westphalia or Indian Missionary Society (Father Walter’s orphanage) at St. Martin Church West, TX. 76691.
