Anna Ruth Asbury Putnam, 88, of Houston, passed away on Aug. 24, 2020, in Houston.

A memorial will be held on Sept. 2, 2020, at 2 p.m. at Houston National Cemetery with Pastor Nathan Bledsoe officiating. Burial will be in Houston National Cemetery.

Anna was born April 27, 1932, in Rosebud, to Sam Asbury and Maggie Cochran.

She married Ky B. Putnam on July 20, 1973, in Houston. He preceded her in death on March 1, 2020.

She was an elementary public school teacher and special education diagnostician for Houston ISD. She received her BA from Sam Houston State University and MA from Lamar University.

She is survived by her stepdaughters, Melody Putnam of Austin, Vicky Putnam of Houston, and Grace Blasingame of Friendswood; and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Joe Glen Asbury; and niece, Phrely Asbury.
