Annie Mary Doskocil Janik

A Mass of Christian Burial for Annie Mary Doskocil Janik, 86, of Lake Jackson, TX was celebrated at 10am Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Cyclone with Father George Thirumangalam and Deacon Bill Smetana officiating. Burial followed at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Cyclone. Annie passed away on June 3, 2017, in Lake Jackson, TX. She was born in Cyclone, TX on July 11, 1930 to Joe and Matilda Manak Doskocil. Annie graduated from Rogers High School in 1947. After high school, Annie heard the Lord calling her and she entered Incarnate Word Convent in Houston. She made her Profession of Vows on August 15, 1956. During her years as Sister Mary Raymond, she earned a Masters Degree and served as a teacher, librarian and a principal at Incarnate Word Academy, Marian High School and Blessed Sacrament. After faithfully serving her Lord for 27 years, she heard God instructing her to leave the convent to care for her sister, Lorene. So on February 16, 1977 she received her Dispensation of Vows and began caring for her sister, Lorene until her death in 1988. Some years later, she met Bill Janik and they were married on December 3, 1993. Annie and Bill lived in Missouri City, TX and then Rockport, TX. They spent 19 happy years together enjoying gardening, computer clubs, and dancing polkas and waltzes before he passed away in April of 2013. Annie moved to Jackson Village Retirement Community in Lake Jackson on October 23, 2015 where she became an avid participant in any and all activities provided by the Center. She was especially lucky when playing bingo and any other games that were available and thoroughly enjoyed the company of all those around her. 17 nieces and nephews, and numerous grand nieces and grand nephews survive Annie. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie (Bill) Janik, parents, Joe and Matilda Doskocil, brothers, Raymond Doskocil, Bertin Doskocil, Alfons Doskocil, Ello Doskocil, Joe Lee Doskocil, and a sister, Lorene Doskocil. She is also preceded in death by 6 nieces and nephews. Special acknowledgement to Anne, Natalia, and Larylin - nurses at Brazosport Regional Health System ICU Unit. Mere words are not enough to thank you for your tenderness and compassion you gave to our sweet Aunt Annie. God Bless You.
