Charles M. (Coach G) Groseclose Jr.

Charles M. (Coach G) Groseclose Jr., 82, of Rosebud, died Tuesday, August 1, 2017, at his residence. Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 4, 2017 at Ocker Brethren Church with Dr. Brad Herridge officiating. Burial followed in Ocker Brethren Cemetery. Mr. Groseclose was born September 14, 1934 in Jordan,West Virginia to Charles M. and Pearl Davidson Groseclose Sr. He graduated from East Fairmont High School in Fairmount, West Virginia, Mary Hardin Baylor College and served three years in the U.S. Army. He married Rose Ann Herring on June 11, 1960 and they lived in West Virginia for nine years before moving to Texas. He was an active member of Ocker Brethren Church. He served as song leader for over 30 years, sang in the choir and was an Elder. He was a member of Rosebud Masonic Lodge AF&AM # 745, served as Worshipful Master and was District Deputy Grandmaster twice. He was also a Shriner, member of the York Rite, Knights Templar and the Eastern Star. He taught and coached at Rosebud-Lott ISD for 25 years. His parents, Virginia to Charles M. and Pearl Davidson Groseclose Sr.; a daughter, Marsha Leigh Groseclose; and two sisters, Lotus Summers and Julia Groseclose preceded him in death. His wife of 57 years, Rose Ann Herring; one daughter, Carolyn Groseclose of Zambia, Africa; two sons, Franklin Groseclose and wife, Melinda of Holland and Rev. Michael Groseclose and wife, Patricia of Nelsonville survive him. 7 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Encampment Building Program at Ocker Brethren Church, c/o Todd Corporon, 210 Phillips St., Hutto, Texas, 78634 Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Cook-Gerngross- Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Rosebud.
