DAVID THOMAS “BUDDY” LEWIS JR

Our beloved Buddy went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 1, 2025 surrounded by his loving family.

Buddy was born on August 31, 1945 to David Thomas and Maybell Kelsey Lewis in Rosebud, Texas, the third child of one brother and four sisters. Buddy’s childhood was spent on a farm in Rosebud, Texas. After high school, he was drafted into the Army. He spent one year in Vietnam from 1966 to 1967. After he came home, he married Evelyn Macek on June 7, 1969 and they had two children. He was a member of College Heights Baptist Church in Temple.

Buddy was a skilled mechanic. He retired from the City of Temple after 25 plus years of dedicated service. Afterwards he helped his good friend, Glenn Marek on his farm. He was always willing to help anyone. Buddy loved to work on his farm raising crops and cattle. He liked to go deer hunting.

Buddy is survived by his wife, Evelyn Macek Lewis of Zabcikville, one son, Danny Lewis and wife Kristena of Temple, one daughter, Sharon Lewis of Zabcikville, one grandson, Joshua Lewis of Zabcikville, four sisters, Shirley Uptmor of West, Artie Patsy Dorner of Lindale, Sylvia Mulsow of Waco, and Glenda McLerran of Belton.

Services will be held on Saturday June 7, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. in Cook-Gerngross-Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Rosebud.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held in Little Flock Cemetery near Temple.
