March 2, 1941 – February 3, 2017Ernest Ray Moore, 75, of Morgan’s Point Resort, Texas passed away on February 3, 2017.  He was born March 2, 1941, to Claude and Edith Moore of Rosebud, Texas.  He graduated from Rosebud High School and the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University in 1977.  He married his high school sweetheart, Lorraine Hejl, on June 11, 1961.  He was a member of the National Guard while he started his career in banking.  He worked at Citizens National Bank in Cameron, Texas from 1959-1982 where he was a Cashier Vice President. He worked at First National Bank in Cameron, Texas from 1982-1986 where he served as Executive Vice President, and served as President from 1986-1990 and then President and Chairman of the Board from 1990 until his retirement in 1998.  He was an owner of Balt, Inc. in Cameron, Texas, owner of Best-Rite Manufacturing in Temple, Texas, and owner of Trinity Furniture Manufacturing Company in Jacksonville, Texas. His love of service was evident in his many past civic affiliations including being a member of the Texas Bankers Association, TBA Agriculture & Rural Affairs Committee, Independent Bankers Association, Milam County Appraisal District Board of Directors, Central Texas Hospital Board Memer, Cameron Industrial Foundation Past President, Cameron Chamber of Commerce, Cameron City Councilman from 1974-1986, City of Cameron Mayor Pro-Tem from 1982-1986, Cameron Rotary Club Past President and Paul Harris Fellow, Cameron Country Club Past President, Boy Scouts of America Scoutmaster and Cub Scouts Pack Master, Kings Daughters Hospital Board of Direc-tors, Texas State Technical College Foundation Board of Directors, NSSEA Technical Committee member, Morgan’s Point Resort Parks Committee member and Dead Fish Grill Board of Directors. He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Edith Moore and sister, Billie Ruth Moore.  He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Moore, of Morganss Point Resort, son, Greg Moore and wife, Paola of Austin, and daughter, Julie Karnes and husband, Brian of Belton.  He was blessed with six grandchildren, Madison Pratt (19), Preston Pratt (16), Landon Karnes (6), Bronte Moore (10), Emily Moore (7) and Layla Moore (7). Ernest enjoyed coin collecting, antique car collecting, hunting, fishing, traveling, woodworking, and spending time with his grandchildren.  He especially enjoyed family trips with the grandchildren to Disneyworld and spending family time together at the beach and ranch.  Funeral service was held at 11am, Tuesday, Feb. 7, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron. Burial will follow in the Seaton Cemetery.Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron is in charge of arrangements.
