Eva M. Pittenger Roderick

Eva M. Pittenger Roderick passed away on May 18, 2017, at Arbor House of Temple. She was 93. Born to the Draper family on February 24, 1924, she was later adopted by Sam and Elizabeth Pittenger. She married Delbert H “Rod” Roderick on September 12, 1942. They were married for 65 years before he passed away in January of 2008. The early part of their married life was spent in New York City while Rod worked on the Manhatten Project. After the war, they moved to Port Neches, Texas where they lived and worked and raised their family and in 2000 they moved to Temple. While her children were growing up, she belonged to many organizations such as the Garden club and PTA, serving as an officer in man. She lent her talents to the American Cancer Society as an event coordinator. Miss Eve joined the working world as her children grew up. She became a sales representative for Scholastic Books traveling in Southeast Texas and Western Louisiana. She won many awards for her work. Miss Eve also earned her real estate license and brokers license and owned her own successful business.  Her 3 children, R.L. Roderick of Rockdale, Sharon and Drew Bierds of Temple, and Patricia and Don Clark of Nacogdoches survive Miss Eve. 7 Grandchildren and their spouses, Mark and Keela Bierds of Boerne, Matthew and Jennifer Bierds of El Paso, Crys-tal and Luke Bell of Devore, CA, Chancey and Terry Wells of Wooster, Arkansas, Heather and Shane Yeargan of Manhatten, NY, Kattie and Kirk Mulligan of Pearl-and, Emily and Patrick Gautraud of Cincinnati, Ohio. 9 Great Grandchildren, Blake and Nikki Mattson of Boerne, Brody Mattson of Boerne,  Isaac and Dominic Bell of Devore, CA, Lilly, Alaina and Charlie Wells of Wooster, Arkansas, Cole Bierds of El Paso, Kelly Brynn Mulligan of Pearland. Miss Eve was sassy, feisty, loved music, dancing, flwers, and being the center of attention. She never met a stranger. She always sang “I love you a bushel and a peck” to all those she cared about. The family would like to thank their caring friends at Arbor House for the love they showed Miss Eve. Also, Kindred Hospice who guided us through the final jouney in her battle with Alzheimers. We would like to thank her most special and devoted friend, Lyle Pierce, for the love and care he showed to her. Memorials may be made to St. Ann Ladies Guild or Woodland Cemetery in Rosebud. Visitation was held from 5 to 7p.m. Sunday with a Rosary at 6p.m. at Cook-Gerngross-Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Rosebud. The funeral mass was held at 10a.m. Monday, at St. Ann Catholic Church in Rosebud.
