Georgia Mae Hering Ketterman

Georgia “Gee” Mae Hering Ketterman, age 83, passed away Friday, October 27, 2017 at a Temple Hospital. She was born September 12, 1934 in Barclay, Texas to Adolph and Rose Hering. Georgia graduated from Lott High School in 1953 where she enjoyed sharing her basketball talents with her classmates. Georgia married Alois Ketterman on November 20, 1954. She worked at V & M Drugstore in Temple and for the City of Temple where she retired. Georgia was an active member of the Church of the Visitation Catholic Church in Westphalia, Texas. She taught religion education classes for numerous years. Georgia was also an active member in the Alter Society helping whenever and wherever needed. Georgia is preceded in death by her husband, Alois; parents, Adolph and Rose Hering; her sisters, Gladys Kahlig and Veronica (Fronie) Roessler; and brothers, Glenard Hering and Walton (Buddy) Hering. Georgia is survived by her sons, Marvin “Rusty” Ketterman, Joe Ketterman and his wife, Cathy; her daughters, Cindy Berndt, Diane Mooneyham and her husband, Dewayne, and Karen Hattemer; her sister Geraldine Hoelscher, and her husband, Elmer, and her brother, Justin Hering and his wife, Linda. Georgia was well-loved by her 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Monday, October 30, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Hewett-Arney Funeral Home Chapel with a Rosary starting at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at 10:00 a.m., at the Church of the Visitation in Westphalia with the burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the CCD Program in Westphalia, the Indian Missionary Society (Father Walter’s Orphanage) at St. Martins Church, West, Texas 76691 or the American Diabetes Foundation.
