Harmon Miller “Sonny” Burns

Harmon Miller “Sonny” Burns, 77, of Rosebud, died Tuesday, January 2, 2018, in a Temple Hospital. Visitation was held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Cook-Gerngross- Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Rosebud. Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 5, 2018 in Cook-Gerngross-Green-Patterson Funeral Home with Rev. Don Fulton officiating. Burial with Masonic Rites will follow in Powers Chapel Cemetery near Rosebud. Mr. Burns was born June 2, 1940 in Crockett to Sidney J. and Ila Moses Burns. He lived most of his life in Rosebud. He married Shirley Chappell on January 17, 1958. She preceded him in death and he married Judy Kilgo on January 9, 2014. He worked for Belfalls Electric, Southwestern Electric Service Company and retired with TXU. He was a member of the Rosebud Masonic Lodge AF & AM # 745 and received his 50 year pin in 2017. He coached Little League Baseball for many years, having Burns Field named for him in his honor in Rosebud. He was also preceded in death by five siblings, Lois Burns Selman, Hazel Burns Durdin, Faye Burns, Edna Burns McLain, and Carl Selman. He is survived by his wife, Judy Burns of Rosebud; sons, Bobby Burns and wife, Cindy of Waco, and James David Burns of Rosebud; one brother, Sidney Earl Burns of Damon; two sisters, Virgie Marie Burns and Betty Ruth White both of Rosebud; Six Grandchildren, Layla Burns, Erica Burns, Victoria Burns, Madeley Burns, Oryon Burns, and Cyara Burns Makovy and husband, Charlie;Two Great grandchildren, Corbett Lynn Burns and Caylin Joan Makovy.
