Jesus “Jesse” Velasquez Sr.

Jesus “Jesse” Velasquez Sr., 87, of Rosebud, died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2021, in a Temple hospital. 

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, 2021, in St. Ann Catholic Church in Rosebud. Rev. Walter Dhanwar will officiate. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Rosebud.

Mr. Velasquez was born April 8, 1934, in Lockhart to Juan and Josefa Duran Velasquez. He was a resident of Rosebud since 1955. He married Lucia Tijerina on July 26, 1966. He retired from Knife River Construction Company. He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, and one daughter, Lydia Ruiz.

He is survived by three sons, Julio Perez and wife Marlene of Iredell, David Perez of Rosebud, and Jesse Velasquez Jr. and wife Shelly of Ovilla; one daughter, Vicky Carey and husband Sam of Forney; one sister, Mary Maldonado of Waco; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday at Cook-Gerngross-Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Rosebud.
