JOHNNY D. BOYETT OBIT

Johnny Boyett, age 85, passed away February 18, 2020, in Madisonville, Texas. Funeral services were held 10 A.M., Friday, February 21, 2020, at First Baptist Church in Madisonville, Texas. Rev. Joshua Crutchfield, pastor of the church, officiated the service. A graveside service was held later that day at 3 P.M. at Powers Chapel Cemetery in Rosebud, Texas, near Wilderville. 

Johnny David Boyett was born August 4, 1934 in Liberty, Texas. His parents were Henry Edward & Nealy (Fuzzell) Boyett. Johnny grew up in Liberty and was a graduate of Liberty High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army. Johnny worked as a tool pusher for a number of oil companies until the age of seventy-five. Work was Johnny’s middle name. He truly enjoyed it. He continued to check on oil rig counts and the price of oil long after his retirement. Johnny enjoyed reading when he was younger, gardening and watching bull-riding and police shows on television. He especially liked to ride his "four-wheeler" around Lake Madison.

Johnny was preceded in death by both of his parents; brothers, Jackie & Bill & infant brother, Tommy. He is survived by wife, Virginia Boyett of Madisonville; son, Dewayne Boyett (Cindy) of College Station; daughters, Debbie Graham of Madisonville & Darlene Rankin (Dan) of Katy; grandchildren, Hilary Graham (Justin White), Blake Graham, Daniel Rankin & Zachary Boyett; great-grandchildren, Ryan, Mason, Harley & Dayton White along with four sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law & many nieces & nephews.
