Lucia Velasquez

Lucia Tijerina Velasquez, 82, of Rosebud, died Saturday, October 27, 2018, at a Rosebud Nursing Home. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday in St. Ann Catholic Church in Rosebud. Rev. Walter Dhanwar officiating. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Rosebud. Mrs. Velasquez was born August 7, 1936 in Rosebud to Felix and Prima Castilleja Tijerina. She lived in Rosebud all of her life. She married Julio Perez Sr. who preceded her in death. She then married Jesse Velasquez Sr. She worked for Rosebud Dresses for 30 years. She cared for many children in the community after her retirement. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, warm heart, and the best Tamales in Central Texas. She was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Lydia Ruiz, and her siblings, Mikaela Gonzalez, Reyes Tijerina, Charlie Tijerina, and Felicita Sanchez. She is survived by her husband, Jesse Velasquez Sr. of Rosebud, Three Sons, Julio Perez and wife Marlene of Iredell, David Perez of Rosebud, and Jesse Velasquez Jr. and wife Shelly of Ovilla, one daughter, Vicky Jones of Forney, one brother, Joe Tijerina and wife Mary of Rosebud, 11 Grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Cook-Gerngross-Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Rosebud.
