Rosemary Engel Bell

Rosemary Engel Bell was born May 20, 1939, in Cameron, to Charles W. and Tillie Skupin Engel. A family graveside services will be held at Phillips Cemetery in Travis.

Rosemary cherished her formative years growing up in the 40’s on a farm and she recognized the benefit she gained from doing so. She often said, “I’m glad I lived then, but I’m glad I live now!” These early years developed in her a mindset where work was welcomed and resources were not wasted. Where family worked together and parents were honored. And being gracious was the name of the game. The family farm of 57 acres gave Rosemary many experiences.  She spent her days rising early to help with livestock, going to school, helping with corn and cotton crops, sewing, and playing the piano for their local church service. As an adult, Rosemary continued in her love for sewing, even sewing all her own clothes.  She continued to cherish her past, working extensively on her family genealogy.

She was married to Louis Frank Bell III on Jan. 4,1958. Moving every year while Louis was in the Air Force gave them the opportunity to see many places, even living in Spain.

They raised four boys, Louis Frank Bell IV, Barry Charles Bell, Steven Toth Bell, Alex Bell; and a daughter from Louis’ former marriage, Margy Bell.

Rosemary later moved to Mansfield and then Arlington where she worked as secretary for Post-Tension Systems from 1978-1980. In 1984 she worked as an Administrative Staff Assistant in a high-profile research center, working for The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, until retirement.

She is survived by a sister, Peggy Borden and husband Robert Borden; a brother, Gene Engel and wife Heather Engel and their children Heather, Kira, Aaron; and by a son, Barry Charles Bell and wife Jean Bell and their children Nathan, Rachael, Lindsay; by son, Stephen Toth Bell and wife Nikki Hudson and their children Hudson, Goodwin, Townsen, Culberson, and Stockton; and by son, Alex Bell and wife JoAnn and their children David and wife Jenna, Brandon, Justin, Jordon; Margy and husband Kenton and their children are Justin, Jennifer, Julia, and Bridget. Rosemary is survived by 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her former husband, Louis Frank Bell III, and her son, Louis Frank Bell IV.
