Thomas Howard Souther

Born: September 30th , 1937 in Rosebud, Texas to Sim and Lois Souther

Died: March 12th , 2020 in Cedar Park, Texas

Tom was born and grew up in Rosebud, Texas. His family owned Souther’s Supermarket. He loved that community very much and never lost touch with his family and friends there.

Tom graduated from Rosebud High School in 1955 and obtained a scholastic scholarship to Rice University in Houston, Texas. He graduated from Rice University with a bachelor’s degree in Finance and Accounting in 1959. While in college he joined the Navy ROTC.

After college, Tom spent 2 years active duty in the US Navy serving as a Communications Officer in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. He remained in the US Naval Reserves for another 6 years until 1967. He spent 20 years in the Accounting Department at Texas Power & Light.

In 1978, he was recruited to the Lower Colorado River Authority and served as their Vice President and Treasurer until 1982. He retired in 2002 and spent his years enjoying his passions; visiting family, enjoying his dogs, gardening and watching football.

He is survived by his 2 sons; Greg Souther of Ocala, FL and Todd Souther of Sacramento, CA and his Granddaughter Madeline Souther of Sacramento, CA.

Tom bravely fought Colon Cancer (which later metastasized into Lymphoma) for over 10 years.

The Souther family will announce services when the National Corona Virus Pandemic has ended.
