Niece Becca wrote on June 21 after David’s passing:

“Today a simple man lost his fight with cancer.  Uncle David was a man of few words, communicating mostly by grunts, smiles and actions.  He didn't feel the need for mindless talk or lots of questions, but was satisfied just being near those he cared about.  In his life, he rarely asked much of others until his health began to fail and he leaned on the beautiful backbone of strength of his family (both blood and those loved through marriage).  Thankful for all those that helped with appointments, cared for his yard, brought him food or sent prayers on his behalf.”

The family would like to thank the staff at the VA Medical Centers in Waco and Temple who cared for David over the years and the nurses and doctors at Baylor Scott & White Cancer Center and Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest toward the end of his life.
