“Behold, I stand at the door and knock”

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him, and will dine with him, and he with me.” (Revelation 3:20)

Jesus’ words have echoed throughout the years as an invitation to the abundant life that He offers. No doubt, many of us have heard or seen copies of Holmon Hunt’s painting, “Christ The Light Of The World.”

It represents Christ standing at the door, knocking, waiting for entrance. It is said when Hunt finished the painting, he displayed it for the critics. As the artist unveiled his painting, he stepped back to await evaluation.

One of the critics began to laugh loudly. He began to whisper to all those standing around.

Finally he said, “You have made an obvious but grave mistake! You forgot to put a knob on the door.”

Hunt then replied, “It’s there. You are not able to see the door knob because it is on the inside of the door.” When you obey Christ and He enters your life, you will have welcomed Him. He forces His way into no one’s life. You make that choice yourself. I hope you have a great week.
