Accidentally left out

Duke Snider, a baseball legend with the New York Dodgers, was no doubt one of the best baseball players to play the game. Duke Snider’s name is up there with men like Willie Mays and Mickey Mantle. Duke Snider was an eight time All-Star. He could hit for average and power along with a glove that seemed to snag balls that other players never had a chance to catch. In 1955 he had an amazing season that culminating in the Dodgers beating their cross-town rivals, the New York Yankees to win the World Series. Snider was favored to win the Most Valuable Player Award in 1955 but Roy Campanella was named MVP. The interesting part of the story is that an ill voter later admitted the he mistakenly left Duke Sniders name off the ballot. Since the voting was so close, most baseball historians believe Snider would have won. He never won a MVP award but is considered one of the best baseball players of all time.

I tell this story to reflect on our promise of our eternity in heaven if we stay faithful to God. (Revelation 2:10) There will be no mistake made when it comes to heaven. The Lord will judge us according to all we have done both publicly and in private. If our name is written in the Lamb’s book of life we are assured of eternal salvation, because God does not make mistakes.
