Auther Berry stole the most from himself

Years ago there was a famous jewel thief by the name of Auther Berry. He as a unique jewel thief because he stole only from the very rich and he stole only the finest jewels. But one night he was caught red handed and in the process of trying to escape.

In the process, Auther Berry was shot. He was arrested and sent to prison. But after a short while, he escaped from prison and was on the loose for three years before getting caught and sent back to prison. Auther Berry spent the next eighteen years in prison before being released.

After his release, he settled down in a small New England town where he became one of the towns most respected citizens. All went well until someone came to town one day and recognized Auther Berry, the famous jewel thief.

A young reporter came to interview him. One of his questions was, “Do you remember who you stole from the most?”

Without hesitation, Auther Berry’s answer was, “MYSELF!”

He said, “I could have been anything I wanted to be. I could have been a lawyer, a teacher or even a successful business man. But instead, I spent two-thirds of my adult life in prison. I have spent a lifetime robbing myself.”

How many of us are robbing ourselves and robbing God by not using our time, talents and abilities in serving Him? God gives to us opportunities every day. We ought to be using these blessings to God’s name, honor and glory.

Don’t be like the one talent man in Matthew 25 and bury our talents in the ground.
