Here is looking at me

As the Apostle Paul writes to those in Corinth, “Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves.

Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you unless of course you fail the test. And I trust that you will discover that we have not failed the test.” (II Corinthians 13:5-5)

One of the hardest things for us to do is to look at ourselves honestly. We would all like to think that we do not have any faults or bad traits. We seem to have an inborn defense mechanism that prevents us from being completely honest with ourselves which makes self improvement that much more difficult.

The Bible tells us to examine ourselves. That means honestly looking at the measure of faith that we possess. Jesus Christ is a part of us and we are to live for Him everyday. Just as the athlete in the ballgame or the race we want to play by the rules and we don’t want to be disqualified from the game.

Living a good, busy, faithful, trusting, loving, Christian life will keep us in the running with God right by our side. Every day we should look in the mirror of God’s Word, concentrating on our own personal ability to look at ourselves and see ourselves as God sees us.
