I Was Raised To Show Respect

Weekly Devotional

I was so fortunate to have parents that tried to make sure that as a child, we would always do the right thing. I can remember that when we didn't, when we got home we were disciplined in some form. Here
are just a few lessons that I learned that I still try to practice today.

I was taught to knock before I open a door.

I was taught to say hello when I enter a room and say please and thank you and have respect for my elders.

I'd let another person have a seat if they need it.

Say 'yes sir' and 'no sir' and 'yes maam' and 'no maam' and to help others when they need me to and not stand on the sidelines and just watch.
I was taught to hold the door for the person behind me, and say 'excuse me' when it's needed and to love people for who they are and not for what I can get from them and most importantly,
I was raised to treat people exactly how I would like for to be treated by others.

After all, isn't that what Jesus tells us to do?

"Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them." (Matthew 7:12)
