LETTER: Thanks from Lott

When the winter storm blindsided our small town, along with the rest of Texas, we were unprepared to deal with all of the problems that came with the event.  We want to take this opportunity to say thank you to some of the wonderful people that worked hard to help the citizens of Lott endure this trying time.

Thank you to Chief of Police Michael Hamilton for excellent leadership, and for stepping up to the plate in every aspect, and for his wife Amy, keeping us informed on social media every step of the way.  Pastor Stephen James from the Lott Baptist Church also sought out people in need, offering the skills and resources that he knew we all needed.

Falls Furniture distributed well water for Lott folks to use, while we were without electricity and water.  Sacred Heart Catholic Church opened their doors to anyone that needed shelter and a good meal.  Lowes, Masonic Lodge, and numerous individuals donated drinking water.

After the storm was over, numerous Mennonite families and church members came to our rescue.  They volunteered to cut broken limbs and downed trees for our community.  Soon after, they covered our town with workers that removed all of those limbs and cleaned up each home, with the help of our hard-working city employees.

There are not enough works to express our gratitude for all of your hard work.  You were there when we needed you and we will not forget your kindness and devotion to the people of Lott.

The Mayor and City Council Members of Lott
