A million dollar mistake a

We all make mistakes in our lives from time to time. Sometime the mistakes we make are big mistakes and sometimes maybe not quite so big. But let me tell you of a true story of someone that made a million dollar mistake.

One day John Barrier pulled his old pickup into the U.S. Bank of Washington parkng lot in Spokane, Washington. Dressed in his usual shabby cloths, he paid a quick visit to his broker which was located in the same building. After his visit, he got into his pickup to drive away. The parking lot attendant informed Mr. Barrier that a new 60 cent parking fee has just been intituted , but it was free if he could get his ticket validated from someone in the bank.

Mr. Barrier had been a customer at the bank for several years so he ran back inside in his shabby cloths to get his ticket stamped. The teller took one look at him and made an assumption and refused to stamp his ticket. She said the bank could only validate the ticket when customers made a transaction. After being directed to a new vice-president, Mr. Barrier was told basically the same thing.

“Fine,” he said. “I’ll make a transaction!” He proceeded to withdraw all his money - slightly more than a million dollars and took it to a bank about a block away. That is, after he got his ticket stamped! It is easy for us to make the same mistake and how many times are we guilty of th very same thing?

“My brethern, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory with respect of persons. For if there come into your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly appearl, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment; and ye have respect of him that wears good clothing and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, stand thou here or sit here under my footstool. Are ye not then partialin yourselves and are become judges of evil thoughts?” (James 2:1-4)

How would we treat the two? Remember, we need to be careful and not make a million dollar mistake!
