Saved by the Bible

Let me just ask you. How many Bibles do you have in your home? Just what does your Bible mean to you? Statistics tells us that 9 out of every 10 homes in America has at least one Bible in it, but 1 out of every 5 Church goers admit they never read their Bibles.

There was a true story that was told of a young man that was in the Army. His name was Pfc. Brendon Schweigart and he was 22 years old. His mission was to recover a tank that had broken down in Bagdad, Iraq. When he got to the tank, he was struck in the chest by a snipers bullet. Fortunately, for Schweigart, the bullet became embedded in a Bible that he always carried in his shirt pocket. The word of God literally saved his life! James tells us, “Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness and recieve with meekness the engrafted word which is able to save your souls.” (James 1:21)

God tells us over and over again how important His word is to us. That is one of the many reasons we are told to, “Study to show thyself approved unto God. A workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 

(II Timothy 2:15) Pfc. Brendon Schweigart learned that keeping the Bible next to your heart can literally save your life. But more important than that, by keeping the Bible near your heart will also be able to stop the attacks of the devil and save your soul.
