Today is planting time

Last week was offically spring.

The trees are budding out, the grass is turning green and people are preparing their gardens and getting ready to plant. Somewhere in this world at this very moment, a farmer is dropping seeds in the ground.

Soon the seeds will began to change the surrounding soil in which they were planted. that carefully prepared soil that appears barren today, will soon become a field ready for harvest.

In much the same way, the choices we make and the actions we take, can be seeds to alter the landscape of life for others and ourselves.

A  farmer who sows wheat is never surprised when wheat grows from the ground where it is planted. It is God’s universal law of sowing and reaping.

The Apostle Paul used it to illistrate a corresponding spiritual principle: “Be not decieved; God is not mocked; for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” (Glations 6:7)

The self-centered part of us says, “Satisfy yourself,” while the Spirit urges us to engage in activities that wil help others, bring honor and glory to God.

Folks, today is planting time. Let us not be slack in doing good for others.
