Worrying about what is next

I have a good friend that is an avid sports fan. His favorite sports are football and basketball.

When he watches the games he gets all worked up and nervous and especially if the games are close. So he started recording the games and he busies himself with other things around the house while the game is going on. After the game is over, he checks the final score.

If his favorite team has won then he can sit down and watch the game without any worry or stress. No matter how “nip” and “tuck” the game may be, he doesn’t worry because he knows how the game is going to end.

What a great lesson for us as Christians. To many of us worry about what tomorrow holds. We  fret what is going to happen next. However my question is, “Why should we worry about what happens next when we already know what happens last?”

Life holds a lot of ups and downs, even for a Christian. But that is no reason to unduly worry and fret about tomorrow, because we already know what is going to happen in the end.

We have already read the end of the book haven’t we?

The Bible records in the end we are victorious.

“Be thou faithful unto death and I will give thee a crown of life.” (Rev. 2:10)

So, the next time you are tempted to overly concern yourself with what will happen next, just remember, you already know what will happen last!
