I grew up on a little ranch west of here, in Erath County, where I learned firsthand the way of the cowboy. Becoming a cowboy poet came later and was a good bit harder. In fact, Ranger Doug with the “Riders in the Sky” always would say, “It ain’t the easy way, but it’s the cowboy way!” Or should that be “the cowboy poet way!”
If you’ve been following the news lately, you’ve probably seen the headlines: 51 Texas House Democrats fled the state to block conservative legislation and “save democracy.” That’s their line, anyway. In reality, they boarded private jets and flew to Illinois for a photo op with a liberal governor— sipping cocktails in a fancy hotel.
Attorney General Ken Paxton has asked the Texas Supreme Court to remove 13 of the more than 50 House Democrats who fled the state to break quorum and effectively halt the special session to prevent a mid-decade redistricting plan, the Austin American-Statesman reported.
