Bikers gear up for annual race

On Saturday, June 30, you might have noticed several bicycle racers on the roads and streets of Falls County, around the Rosebud and Lott areas. If you happened to come across a racer or two, then that would probably be because they were participating in the annual Texas Gravel Championship Race hosted by Gritty Teeth Racing. Originally, the race was supposed to be hosted on Saturday, May 5, to help racers beat the summer heat, but ended up being postponed due to rainy and stormy weather conditions. The event started and finished in Rosebud, on seventh street, between Avenue B and FM 1963 in Unity Park. Registration for the race ended at 6:30 a.m, and gave racers the chance to sign up for one of the four distance categories included that day, including the 100 mile, 53.6 mile, 28 mile and 15 mile races.
