POWERLIFTING

The Boys Powerlifting team concluded their season at the highest level of competition last weekend.

Daniel Rodriguez had the best squat in the 220-pound weight class and a 55 pound personal record with 630 pounds. Daniel Rodriguez finished fifth in the State with a total of 1,515 pounds lifted. 

Every single person hit a personal record on one of their lifts. 

Nik Caproni hit a 25 pount personal record on his Squat with 315 pounds. Carlos Saucedo hit a 15 pound personal record on Squat with 425 pounds. Jason Allison hit a 30 pound personal record on his Deadlift with 470 pounds. 

To the seniors, thank you for showing the younger lifters what discipline and hard work is. Couldn’t have had the season we had this year without you setting the example. It’s still YouvsYou. 

Elijah, thank you for your help these last 3 years. For anyone that didn’t know, he has been at every state meet that I have been to. He loves to help and do a lot of the behind the scenes work that makes our team be as efficient and effective as it is.

 

BASEBALL

Cougars improve to 5-1 in district play with a 14-4 win over Milano last weekend. Cougar bats were hot, led by Rolando Leon going four for four plus a walk. 

Big week next week for Cougar Baseball as they take on Thorndale at home Tuesday, then Granger on the road Friday.

 

TENNIS

Nik Caproni and Breon Lewis will play this Wednesday for a Regional Spot. 

Medal Winners in the District Meet were:

Gustavo Loera and Javier Vaquera - first JV boys doubles.

Kinsey Hargrove and Yahir Mendoza - first JV mixed doubles.

Jackie Landrum and Ariana Monroy - second JV girls doubles.

Gracie Doskocil and Hailey Williams - third JV girls doubles.

Fourth place finishers - girls varsity doubles - Illeana Rodriguez and Jackie Salazar and JV girls doubles - Maria Bouvier and Yoselin Aldana.
